I am originally from Chihuahua and before moving to Texas, I took a photo of a Tarahumara while I was walking through the center of the city. She was a very beautiful Tarahumara and her culture was a strong element in my art. I really like painting cultural things because I talk a lot about my roots or I interpret the culture of others. Culture is an important symbol that defines us as people, and when taking portraits it is important to take into account these elements that give life to the portrait.
In this painting I wanted to explore creativity outside of realism and combine the colorful life of the Tarahumara with something more objective, which is the drawing of the face. With this painting I was able to find a style of art and open my talent to creativity.
