My grandfather passed away when I was a child, and when I was looking at the photos my mother kept, when I turned 15, I found a photo that touched my soul. I hardly knew my grandfather, but something I realized was that I didn’t struggle at all to draw in such detail because I was so focused on the emotion. I won’t lie, it didn’t turn out exactly the same as the original photo, but I could feel his noble look through my pencil strokes. Something to take into account in this work is that I was able to interpret his personality by drawing his look and his expression. It is a deep drawing full of personal meaning.
Even though art is subjective, I tried to be objective in making it realistic, and I tried to make the feeling real and direct.
